They pay pretty well and give me flexible hours and shifts. All my gear is used. The biggest expense is quality kibble and meat. But as far as the meat goes, you could find scraps from hunters etc. Dipping fish in Chitina is a great way for get salmon for you and the dogs too. There are ways to live with sled dogs and do it cheap. Used houses and sled etc. As long as you keep your kennel small.
