Restless Spirit Wandering

The four-wheelie is busted, yo. So, yeah, if it's not working by tomorrow, the dogs will pull the dead machine. Which is fine with a big team, except I'll have to alter my route slightly so that I don't have to go around any sharp corners. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I've been letting the dogs loose just to stretch out and have a little fun. Yesterday, Lars and I walked a whack of dogs down to the chain of lakes behind my house. The good times are killing me. I'm stressed because this is their third day off. Oh well, such is life with machines, I guess. OK, more later, I have to go outside and make a cozy little tent for our dear four-wheeler to try and warm it up so it will start. I might offer it some tea and salmon around six. Poor little dove. (I'm trying to be nice to it now...it might work better than kicking it and calling it a massive piece of shit.)
Peace and hippie hugs

Oh yeah, that's Roy. We think he's a Suki, an African sight hound. That's what people are saying anyway. No matter what he is, he's a giant freakshow, but we love him...sometimes...

Hi....can't remember how I found your blog but it was probably while looking up random things on sled dogs. :) My husband and I were actually two of the tourists you presented to in August--you probably don't remember, but I asked the question about whether the Yukon Quest race was founded to commemorate a specific event like the Iditarod was. I just wanted to say that the sled dog experience and your presentation were the highlight of our whole vacation. (Actually your presentation was so interesting I wished it could have been longer!) The "PETA"-type people you've mentioned must be infuriating. I don't understand how they can see the happy, excited, energetic dogs we saw while we were there and still go on about "animal cruelty."

You mentioned you're signed up for the Yukon Quest 300--good luck and I hope you and your dogs do well. And thanks again for being the high point of our vacation.

Wow! Roy IS a freak of nature! Those legs go on forever! Have you harnessed that beast up?

No. I think I might skijor with him. He did go on a run with me last week. He was loose and ran in front of the team almost the entire way. He's faster than...something that's really fast...
